One of my joys in being a scoutmaster is helping our boys (our young men) to realize they can achieve anything they put their hearts and minds towards.
During a recent troop meeting, I closed with a simple exercise of having the scouts draw a line as high as they could on a sheet of paper pasted to the wall. After all of the scouts drew their lines “as high as they could” I had each one of them come back to the wall and draw a line even higher then they did the first time. Guess what? Every scout was able to draw a line even higher than the first time–amazing, right?
This very simple exercise proved how we all can, with just a little more effort, hit a higher mark than we previously thought possible.
