Boy Scouts in Las Vegas from Troop 770 embarked on their first Grand Canyon Adventure!

During Troop 770’s first ever annual plan held last September, the new Boy Scouts from Troop 770 wanted to go to the Grand Canyon National Park. Last weekend, they embarked on their first adventure as Boy Scouts to one of the World’s 7 Natural Wonders.

During their Grand Canyon adventure, the Boy Scouts hiked into the canyon on the South Kaibab trail descending over 1,100 feet to Cedar Ridge. After a refreshing lunch at the ridge, the Scouts quickly realized that the accent back up to the ridge was a very challenging hike unlike the hike down into the Grand Canyon.

After their hike, the Scouts enjoyed a delicious foil wrap meat and vegetable dinner which they prepared over the open campfire. With energy still running through them, the Scouts then conducted a campfire program with skits, yells and songs and even the Scoutmasters pitched in with a few skits of their own.

The next morning was fun and games in camp with some hula hoop fun followed by the Scouts favorite camp game — capture the flag. After a short bus tour of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, everyone was ready to hit the road and head home with great memories of their first Grand Canyon adventure.

Be sure to check out all 316 photos made during this awesome campout. Over half of these were made by Troop 770’s new Historian, Brett W who did an excellent job of making some incredible photos of the Grand Canyon and the Scouts adventure.
